History

The Founders of the business that would become Cal Sungold, started in the mid-1950's. First farming the fruit and then expanding into processing and packing for the retail, industrial and consumer markets. Quickly rising to the top of the Date Industry.

Cal Sungold is now a preminent producer of the upscale Medjool variety dates, which are becoming an important part of the date market. Annually we produce, processes and market 5 million pounds of dates. Four million pounds of Deglet Noors and One million pounds of Medjools. Although dates are historically a labor-intensive crop, modern high tech processing allows the company to handle the large volume. The fruit is cleaned, hydrated, cooled, pitted, chopped or diced, all by industrial equipment capable of processing thousands of pounds of fruit at once. Cal Sungold packages dates to customer order for the retail trade, and processes product for industrial customers according to their specified size and moisture content

Today the family company that started in the 1950's is one of the largest independent date producers in the Coachella Valley.
